April 22, 2000 – Today is what is known at the Easter Jeep Safari as Big Saturday. It is the only day in which all the runs leave town via Main Street at the same time. The police close off Main Street to through traffic and at 9 AM, all the rigs depart through Main Street. Naturally, this makes a parade and people line up to watch and take photos. Some of the TV stations are there to film it for the news, which includes interviewing some of the four wheelers. We all opted to skip today’s run, since we are leaving today; and watch the different rigs leaving town. Carl and I ran in the parade 2 years ago and you only get to see the rigs around you. Mike and Kat hooked up with Rob and Robin (friends they had made on the Bronco Run) to make a short run close to town. We could not find Carl and Landon before we left Moab, so I guess we won’t know what they did until we get home. I think all of us enjoyed Moab, although we didn’t go on too many runs. Just being there, with the “Who’s Who” of the 4 wheel drive world was a thrill. Today is the last day that we will do an update since we are on the way home, spending tonight in Elko, Nevada and will be back in Sacramento Sunday. I hope everyone who checked our daily adventures enjoyed them, including the people on the runs who found out we were taking photos for a website and asked for our website address. Carl must have handed out 50 cards with our website address. Below are a few photos of “Big Saturday” before the parade and a few photos taken of the “road ahead”. Jim Boyett |
