Moab Day 3

Jeff and I departed Provo about 8:30 AM and called Mike and Kat around 9 AM, they were about 20 miles west of Salt Lake City in a wind storm.  We picked up a few light showers while going over Soldier Summit (El= 7400'+) We ate lunch in Green River and went on in to Moab, arriving there around 1:30 PM.  We checked into the Apache Motel, unloaded the Jeep and all our gear then went to the Gonzo Motel where Mike and Kat had just arrived.

We gave them time to get unloaded, then we went cruising Moab!  We checked out the "Old Spanish Trail Arena" where all the manufacturers show off their products and registration takes place.

We also talked to a guy with a Bronco, who invited Mike on an informal Bronco Run on Wednesday.  I put my foot in my mouth when I asked him if I could take a picture of his Jeep!

We decided to run out to Lions Back to see if anything was going on there.  When we arrived, there were two Jeeps passing near the top!

After watching a few rigs go up and back down, Mike and I walked a short way up Lions Back.

A couple of Broncos started up and the action began!  The first Bronco got near the top and must have taken a bad line and all of a sudden, he was in trouble! He stopped, balanced in a precarious position.  His buddy ran up to help and with a little spotting, he made it over the top!

After Lions Back, we adjourned to the Brewery for dinner, where Carl Brandt and Landon caught up with us. After making our plans for tomorrow morning, we went our separate ways to our motels.  Tomorrow is our first run to "Flat Iron Mesa"
